La cinta mecánica que llevan nuestras maletas hace falta algunas placas y suena como una fabrica industrial. Bienvenidos a Dakar! Unos 15 minutos en coche pasando bloques de apartamentos oscuros y silenciosos, algunas giras por calles de tierra y arena sin nombres y llegamos a la base de JCUM: una villa bonita donde el Atlántico se ofrece como nuestro jardín trasero.
Cold florescent lights, handsome steely-black African faces in blue uniform stare us through passport control. The luggage conveyor belt makes noises louder than a metal stamping factory and we wonder if our suitcases will fall through the missing rubber panels. Welcome to Dakar! A 15-minute ride through ghostly apartment blocks with no electricity, a few turns down streets of sand with no names, y voila! we are at the YWAM base, a beautiful villa backed up to the Atlantic. We flop down for the night, wrapping mosquito nights around our beds imagining what the morning will bring.
